Hepatica is a small genus in the buttercup family, Ranunculaceae, native to Europe, Asia and N-America. They are evergreen, spring-flowering, woodland plants which thrive best in chalky soil and some shade.
Propagation:
Division in spring.
Seed - sown in September - November.
Seed has short viability and should be sown as soon as possible after it is collected. If it needs to be stored it should be refrigerated.
Seed just covered and stored outside until germination. If seed is sown in fall it will most likely germinate the next spring, however it could germinate the year after.
Pretty spring-flowering woodland perennial.
