Gentiana is a large genus of around 400 species in the family Gentianaceae. It's distribution is alpine and temperate regions in Europe, Asia and America. The signature feature of the genus are exceptionally blue, trumpet shaped flowers.
Propagation:
Division in spring.
Seed - sown in January.
Seed is just covered and kept at 20°C (68°F) for 3-4 weeks. If the seed hasn't germinated it should be refrigerated for 2-4 weeks and then stored again at 20°C (68°F) until germination.
Flowers very late. Needs a sunny position for flowers to open. Needs neutral or slightly acid soil, avoid lime.
