Gentiana is a large genus of around 400 species in the family Gentianaceae. It's distribution is alpine and temperate regions in Europe, Asia and America. The signature feature of the genus are exceptionally blue, trumpet shaped flowers.

Propagation:


Seed - sown in September - January.

Seed just covered and stored at 20°C (68°F) for 2-4 weeks and then stored outside until germination. Optimum germination temperature is 5-12°C (40-55°F). 

Hardy, but flowers sparingly. Prefers calcareous soil.
