Epimedium is a small genus in the family Berberidaceae. Most species are native to China. They are woodland plants that prefer fertile, moist soil in shade. Young leaves are often colorful and just as decorative as the flowers.

Propagation:

Division after flowering in spring or in fall.

Seed - sown in fall. Seed has short viability and must be sown as soon as possible.

Seed just covered and stored outside until germination.

Woodland plant. Spring flowering, flowers as the foliage emerges. New foliage is light green, then turns red with green veining, before turning dark green later in the season.
