Delphinium is a large genus in the buttercup family, Ranunculaceae, with around 300 species. Most are tall perennials with a distribution in temperate regions of the northern hemisphere, reaching south to mountainous areas in Africa. Garden cultivars are numerous and more widely grown in gardens than the species.
Division in spring.
Seed - sown in September - February.
Seed just covered and stored outside, optimum germination temperature is 10-15°C (50-60°F). Seed has short viability and should be sown as soon as possible or stored in a refrigirator until it is sown.
Much shorter than most delphinium varieties and doesn't need support.
