Aquilegia is a genus in the family Ranunculaceae. They are  hardy plants that prefer fairly moist soil and semi-shade. However, the genus includes a few alpine plants that need full sun and well drained soil.

Propagation:

Seed sown in February - March.

Seed just covered and kept at 15-20°C (60-68°F) until germination. After germination it should be kept at a lower temperature with plenty of light so the plants won't become lanky.

A very pretty garden variety with yellow, long-spurred flowers of unknown origin. It grows best in sun or partial shade in well drained, fertile soil.
