Aquilegia is a genus in the family Ranunculaceae. They are  hardy plants that prefer fairly moist soil and semi-shade. However, the genus includes a few alpine plants that need full sun and well drained soil.

Propagation:

Seed sown in January - March.

Seed just covered and kept at 15-20°C (60-68°F) until germination. After germination it should be kept at a lower temperature with plenty of light so the plants won't become lanky.

A self-seeded hybrid that originated in the garden of Ólafur B. Guðmundsson. Seeds have been available
on the seed list of the Icelandic Garden Society for a number of years. There is some variety between seedlings, but a defining characteristic is the height and the raspberry pink flowers. It is hardy and self-seeds moderately.
