Acinos is a small genus of around 10 species belonging to the Lamiaceae family native to S-Europe and W-Asia. These are low growing plants that need a sunny spot and well drained soil. Acinos is derived from the Greek word akinos which means small, fragrant plant.
Propagation:
Division in spring.
Seed sown in March.
Seed just covered and kept at 20°C (68°F) until germination. After germination it should be kept at a lower temperature with plenty of light so the plants won't become lanky.
A procumbent half-shrub that is fairly tender. It needs sharp drainage and possibly winter protection to survive winter outside. It might do better in areas with consistent snow cover during winter. An alpine from the mountains of S-Europe.
