Western bleeding heart is a low growing perennial with fernlike foliage that is supposedly hardy. It hasn't grown very well in my gardens for some reason and was never very vigorous. Possibly the soil was too dense or it was growing in too much shade. I've seen in growing vigorously in other gardens.
