'Splendens' is a garden variety of sea thrift, or sea pink, with magenta flowers. It is larger than the species in all aspects, taller with much longer, grass-like foliage and larger flowers. It is hardy, but doesn't flower well if the soil is too fertile or dense. It grows best in very well drained, sandy, gritty soil.
