This gem is a self-seeded hybrid between A. vulgaris 'Magpie' and a hybrid columbine (A. x hybrida), either 'McKana's Giant's' or a descendant of them. The flower colour is exactly the same as 'Magpie', but the flowers are much larger and identical in form to the hybrid columbines apart from the hooked spurs which are a signature mark of A. vulgaris. I haven't tried collecting seed to see if it comes true from seed, but it's doubtful.
